The Negev Desert flows into the Judean Desert where you can also visit Masada, the Dead Sea and the Yotvata Bar Hai Nature Reserve and Park Timna in the Arava Desert.

On a Negev jeep tour you can go deep into the desert, far off-road to places most people don’t get a chance to see. I must emphasize this is Not a detailed, in-depth insight into what could be legit speculation about the vigorous life that may, or may not ensue with restoration. That remains mere possibility at best!
I do attempt to include numerous resources where deeper insight for specifics may lead more inquisitive folk. My own such online 'trekking' into current and ancient Negev life barely scratch the surface of the amazing diversity found here.
The intent I began forming into Restoring the Negev blog stems out of my growing fascination and experiences of producing nutrient-dense soils from any organic materials at hand in the places I've tended to customer and personal gardening in and on otherwise arid, poor soil, and otherwise plant-stressing situations.
It is, to me, simply a miracle that combining a few rudimentary plant husbandry factors produces incredible plant vitality and self-protection against invasion of microbes, repulsion of harmful parasites and damaging insects. Even the root assimilation of nutrients increases.
I've seen the simple, unaltered organic soils enable plants to grow to dimensions and fruiting abundance that double, triple and even more with less water. The nutrient chelation by the microbial and physical factors in natural, unaided composting provide plants with far more and better bioavailable nutrients present in the organic material used in the soil production.
Perhaps of at least equal value to plant vitality in natural compost soils, the partially decomposed material holds water that is readily absorbed by roots, but protected from evaporation by the nature of the same partially-digested material toward the surface, providing shade, and a porous barrier to evaporating of gaseous nutrients, such as nitrogen, but not to vital aeration and water penetration.
In the arid places I've restored soil vitality to, dense plant placement conserves water. The mach more dense nutrient content in the soil provides abundant nutrition and moisture retention to fully support the health and vitality close-spaced plants require.
I mentioned that parasites, damaging insects and invading microbes are repelled by plants supported by dense-nutrient natural compost soils. This was one of the first signs of the benefit natural, unaltered compost soils provide plants. The DNA designed into every creature includes using full nutrient spectrum bioavailable elements to produce these safeguards. Pesticides, fungicides and all '...icides' be damned!
So . . .
Not a detailed treatise about producing, or even researching into what each Negev plant species requires, this simple Restore the Negev blog focuses on the enabling technology that produces enabling soils to initiate and sustain Negev restoration.
In the restoration analysis, it comes down to just one objective, with two key factors.
A. Induce bountiful natural, tree-respiration induced stratosphere moisture condensation, and.
B. Retention of this precipitation in nutrient-dense, high retention organic soils that easily release the moisture to each plant and all soil fauna on demand and required quantity to each.
Given this ultra-simple objective, the implementation process is fully satisfied with any alteration that aids its progress.
